Located on a 27-acre tract in a residential section of northern Atlanta, Pace offers a curriculum with the flexibility to address students’ varying needs, abilities and learning styles. In addition, the school maintains 23- and eight-acre off-site athletic properties. Balancing challenge and support, the program features single-gender math groups in grade 3, accelerated classes in grade 4, in-depth writing workshops in grade 5, honors courses in grade 8, and both honors and Advanced Placement classes for upper schoolers. Computer use commences in the early grades and becomes increasingly prominent as the pupil progresses. After-school extra-help sessions provide daily opportunities for individual assistance. The creative and performing arts play an important role in school life. Among Pace’s course options in this area are painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, ceramics and printmaking, and students also choose from three singing groups and three instrumental music groups. In addition, the academy conducts a well-regarded drama program. Community service requirements are as follows: five hours annually in grades 6-8 and 10 hours per year in grades 9-12. A range of sports and athletic opportunities that includes intramural games and interscholastic teams accommodates boys and girls of varying skill levels.
