1000 Orme School Rd, HC 63, Box 3040, Mayer, AZ 86333
Mr. and Mrs. Charles H. Orme founded this school for local ranch children. Beginning as a one-room school, Orme has grown into a modern college preparatory institution on a 320-acre campus in the middle of a 26,000-acre ranch. The high school curriculum includes honors and Advanced Placement courses in the major disciplines. Complementing the academic program are interscholastic athletics, horsemanship (both English and Western) and outdoor leadership opportunities. The arts program is supported by a weeklong midwinter festival, at which time students and faculty are joined by professional artists from all over the country. The visiting artists teach such media as ceramics, photography, dance, music, sculpture and filmmaking. The course of studies prepares students for competitive colleges throughout the country. The Southwestern environment of the school is stressed through special courses, field trips, varied outdoor activities and an annual caravan. Orme's middle school (grades 6-8) allows students with academic and emotional maturity to enroll in high school-level courses for credit.
