1585 Wesleyan Dr, Norfolk, VA 23502
Located on a 63-acre campus between Norfolk and Virginia Beach, the academy has been in operation since before the American Revolution. The solid college preparatory curriculum, enriched by study of contemporary affairs and public speaking, as well as athletic, fine arts and community service programs, prepares students for competitive institutions throughout the country. Although Norfolk does not participate in the Advanced Placement program, students prepare independently for AP tests in a range of subjects. Twice a year, faculty suspend classes to devote the school day to small-group seminar discussions about a selected piece of literature. Exchange programs with schools in France, Germany, Spain and South Africa are available.
