Nishimachi International School
2-14-7 Moto Azabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo, 106-0046 Japan
Situated in the heart of Tokyo, NIS offers a dual-language curriculum in English and Japanese. All students receive instruction in Japanese as a first or second language, and Japanese social studies courses employ the native language. English is the medium of instruction for all other courses, and an ESL program assists those lacking English fluency. Although the original curriculum was based on the American educational model, components from various international educational sources have since been incorporated into the program. Technology instruction is integrated into the curriculum at all levels, and mobile laptop labs allow middle school students to connect to the school's wireless Internet network. NIS organizes regular schoolwide and grade-specific community service projects.
