The New England Adolescent Research Institute provides year-round educational, clinical, recreational and prevocational services for children, adolescents and young adults facing severe challenges, as well as those with developmental delays. The institute also provides training opportunities and resources for professionals who work with at-risk individuals. NEARI's special education day school enrolls young people with severe emotional disturbances and learning disabilities. A training and consulting center for at-risk children that specializes in the care of sexually abusive students is a component of the school program, as is an after-school prevention program for highly at-risk boys and girls. The sending school district typically pays all tuition fees.
