Morgan Park Academy

The academy is located 15 miles southwest of downtown Chicago in a residential community. Morgan Park served as the preparatory department of the University of Chicago from 1892 to 1907, then existed as a military academy until 1958. The program places special emphasis on English, foreign languages, history, science and mathematics. Continuing emphasis is placed on small classes and the development of a competitive and selective academic school of exacting standards. Foreign language instruction begins in preschool, and throughout the school emphasis is placed on the development of reading and writing skills. Honors and Advanced Placement courses are available in all major disciplines in the upper school. Course offerings in the areas of art, computer science, drama, music and physical education are provided at all levels. Two service learning days are held during the school year in which students and faculty participate in a variety of community service events. All boys and girls participate in eight community service days prior to graduation.
