Miss Hall's School Miss Hall's School

The school was established by Mira Hinsdale Hall as a successor institution to the first girls' boarding school founded in Massachusetts in 1800. Upon her aunt's death in 1937, Margaret Hall assumed direction of the school, continuing the family tradition, conservative tone and standards of scholarship. Miss Hall's offers both an honors tier and Advanced Placement courses, in addition to various electives. An established expressive arts program features photography, studio art, modern dance, theater and music. Internships with area businesses and science and cultural organizations add breadth to the traditional college preparatory program. Girls take part in community service each Thursday morning. The athletic program comprises interscholastic and recreational sports, as well as a wilderness program. All students participate in an athletic activity each term, including at least one team sport each year. Emphasis is placed on attracting a geographically diverse student body and maintaining a family-style atmosphere.
