Memphis University School
6191 Park Ave, Memphis, TN 38119
Founded as the Werts and Rhea School, the school is the result of a 1954 reorganization and incorporation. Conducted on a 94-acre campus, the strong academic program emphasizes college preparation and features Advanced Placement courses in the major disciplines. Study skills instruction in grade 7 emphasizes organization, note taking, reading for content, idea mapping and outlining, and exam preparation. MUS maintains a coordinate program with the Hutchison School, a girls' school whose adjacent campus allows for joint academic and leadership programs. An honor code plays a major role in school life. Students coordinate community service efforts to benefit local nonprofit organizations, churches and synagogues.
