The McCallie brothers, Prof. Spencer J. McCallie and Dr. J. Park McCallie, conducted the school they founded from 1905 to 1949. With a consistently demanding faculty, they developed superior academic standards and athletic facilities comparable to those of Northern schools. Graduates go on to competitive colleges in the South and around the country. Through a year of Bible study, activities such as Young Life, FCA and Big Brothers, and the honor system, emphasis is put on the development of Christian character. A coordinate program with Girls Preparatory School provides a limited number of coed courses and joint theater productions, a cheerleading squad, activities and social events. A weekend activities program and an extensive academic counseling program provide additional stimuli. Faculty members conduct one-on-one tutorials four times per week for those students requiring extra help. In addition to interscholastic sports, McCallie maintains a comprehensive physical fitness program in which all participate.
