Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School (MICDS) offers an academically challenging and well-rounded liberal arts education in a JK-12, co-ed, college preparatory setting. Our class sizes are small (average 14-16 students), creating a spirit of community and intellectual exchange. Strong student advising in grades 5-12 and a four-year college counseling program in grades 9-12 provide a supportive environment as students work toward academic and personal goals.
Great Teaching and Learning. At MICDS, teachers are committed to working with students in a variety of contexts, both in and out of the classroom, so that students discover their passions, develop strong habits of heart and mind and the appetite to excel. A well-articulated curriculum emphasizing 21st-century skills is delivered across all grade levels, and more than 70% of the faculty hold advanced degrees.
Leadership and Community Engagement. Since its founding, MICDS has graduated a remarkable number of men and women who have emerged as leaders. The school continues to develop inquisitive, compassionate and confident learners with a solid academic foundation and a strong sense of community. Through carefully articulated experiences within a diverse community, MICDS students develop and exhibit the skills and the desire to lead, face the complexity and challenges of the global community with respectful curiosity and demonstrate a commitment to doing what is good and right.
Sustainability. MICDS implements green practices in daily operations and students come to understand their role as environmental stewards with emphasis in the science curriculum on sustainability. Financially, MICDS remains strong due to careful oversight of resources and a commitment to enhancing and maintaining the physical plant without acquiring debt. With over $3.4 million distributed in financial aid, MICDS achieves socio-economic diversity and full participation in the life of the school to all students enrolled.
Technology. Technology has become an integral component of the 21st century classroom. The MICDS campus is equipped with advanced technology, a WIFI network, and beginning in Grade 7, students participate in a one-to-one tablet laptop program. In the classroom, technology is leveraged to deepen engagement, differentiate instruction, and maximize collaboration.
At MICDS, our mission is to help our students discover their unique talents and calling, preparing them not only for higher education, but a life of purpose and service as an engaged citizen of our ever-changing world. It is a dynamic culture of learners that is second to none.
