Marianapolis Preparatory School

26 Chase Rd, PO Box 304, Thompson, CT 06277

Originally for boys, Marianapolis was established by the Congregation of Marians of the Immaculate Conception. It moved to its present, 150-acre site, on an arboretum in the heart of the 440-acre Thompson Hill Historic District, in 1931. The coeducational day program was instituted in 1974, and in 1989 girls were admitted to the boarding program. The school offers a college preparatory program that includes honors as well as standard sections in most academic subjects. Advanced Placement classes are offered in several areas. In addition, there are four levels of English taught to students for whom it is a second language. Marianapolis plans weekend trips to New York City, Boston, MA, and Providence, RI, as well as various seasonal activities. Residential students also have the opportunity to engage in many other weekend activities.
