Lycee International, American Section

rue du Fer a Cheval, BP 5230, 78175 Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France

Located in a western suburb of Paris, the Lycee International features a strong academic curriculum that centers on the French national program, but accommodates additional course work for 11 national sections. Although it is a French public school, its faculty and student body comprise many nationalities, and are divided into sections according to country. Within each section, the school offers preparation for the different national university entrance exams, including the US College Boards and the international option of the French Baccalaureate. In the American section, pupils study English and social studies in English, science, math and all other subjects in French. Students whose language ability does not allow them to follow the French curriculum enter adaptation classes. The Lycee International has a strong theatrical arts department and offers an array of other extracurricular activities. The school encourages students to take advantage of the many cultural opportunities in nearby Paris, and boys and girls have frequent excursion opportunities.
