Louise S. McGehee School

2343 Prytania St, New Orleans, LA 70130

Louise S. McGehee founded this school to insure the opportunity for young women to have an education equal to that offered men. Located in a historic residential area of New Orleans, McGehee conducts a college preparatory curriculum that includes independent study and Advanced Placement courses. Among the school's extracurricular activities are dramatics, choral music, team sports and interest clubs. Art facilities consist of a photography lab, potter's wheels and large areas for painting. Seniors participate in a two-week internship program that is required for graduation. McGehee offers an afternoon care program and after-school enrichment classes during the academic year, in addition to a coeducational early childhood program for two- and three-year-olds.
