Linden Hall is the oldest continuously operating girls' boarding school in the country. The school's program prepares students for college, with special emphasis placed on the development of academic skills and sound study habits. The school specializes in helping each student achieve her optimal level of scholarship by providing an honors program and Advanced Placement courses for qualified pupils, as well as allotting time daily for extra help. Academics are enhanced by opportunities in the fine and performing arts, and Linden Hall maintains affiliations with the Pennsylvania Academy of Music and local colleges. A strong equestrian program and interscholastic competition are also part of the regular program. Girls satisfy the following community service requirements: 10 hours per year in grades 5-8, 15 hours annually in grades 9-12. The school's 47-acre campus, which combines both modern and traditional structures, contains the full range of facilities. Girls enroll from foreign countries and locations throughout the US, and English as a Second Language is available during the academic year and over the summer for international students desiring to improve their command of written and spoken English.
