Lake Ridge Academy
37501 Center Ridge Rd, North Ridgeville, OH 44039
LRA occupies an 88-acre campus on the eastern edge of Lorain County. The school draws students from about 45 communities in the Cleveland area, as well as international students from a number of foreign countries. Lake Ridge's social and academic curricula emphasize college preparation. Art, music, foreign language, technology, and physical and outdoor education are incorporated into the lower school curriculum. Major emphasis is placed on literacy and math skills in the lower grades, and French and Spanish classes begin in kindergarten. The middle school's inquiry-based curriculum allows students to accelerate according to their individual needs. The upper school curriculum consists of course work in the five basic disciplines, as well as technology. Students may enhance their studies with college-level courses (offered in cooperation with Oberlin College), Advanced Placement and independent study options. A two-year honors entrepreneurship program accommodates up to 40 upper school students each year and offers an extensive exploration of the principles of entrepreneurship. Upper school students participate in various programs that allow them to pursue interests beyond the classroom through internships, community service, student exchanges, and two-week travel and study trips.
