An Education That’s One of a Kind. Just Like Your Child.
At Lake Forest Country Day School, we think your child is someone wonderful. That’s why our exceptional teachers create a safe, nurturing environment where your child can develop at his or her own pace. Individual attention and a cutting-edge curriculum promote discovery, personal growth, and a myriad of development opportunities.
Recent studies confirm what LFCDS has practiced all along: Our age 2 through grade 8 model has a significant positive effect on academic achievement, openness to learning, and student behavior. This model provides a continuum for students to discover who they are as learners and as they determine the next step in their educational futures.
The Early Childhood program (ages 2-5) is the start of an exceptional education. Through a thematic, hands-on, multi-sensory approach to learning, our youngest students have the chance to explore, learn, and create. Research-based curricula in a play & learn environment encourage the development of language, physical, and social/emotional skills. Preschool through senior kindergarten students enjoy the holistic integration of language arts, math, science, conversational Spanish, PE, and music. Throughout these early childhood years, our program is designed to promote the social, emotional, cognitive, and physical growth of each child.
Lower School students (Grades 1-4) develop the higher-level thinking and problem-solving skills needed for a well-balanced academic and social experience. The curriculum emphasizes the fundamentals of reading, writing, oral presentation, and mathematics. Additionally, it draws on concepts from social studies, science, and the arts to enhance the learning experience. Students also learn to select appropriate technology tools to gather and present information. Each classroom is structured to create a climate for respectful learning and trust–and to help children acquire essential social skills such as cooperation, assertiveness, responsibility, empathy, and self-discipline.
The Upper School (Grades 5-8) prepares graduates who are extraordinary individuals, learners, and citizens of a global age. They are independent thinkers who are well-equipped to flourish in future academic and career settings. Our graduates know how to use state-of-the-art technology to find, evaluate, analyze, and synthesize information. They have learned time-management skills, take organized notes, and express themselves expertly both orally and in writing. In-depth studies of foreign languages and world cultures prepare them to become global citizens. Hands-on participation in the fine arts and visual arts teaches them the skills to be lifelong students of culture. LFCDS graduates routinely attend prestigious secondary schools, distinguish themselves in national and regional academic competitions, qualify for accelerated foreign language, math, and writing programs, and lead musical ensembles.
A lifetime of learning lies ahead. Let LFCDS lay the foundation for your child’s educational success.
