Kentucky Country Day School
4100 Springdale Rd, Louisville, KY 40241
In 1972, the Kentucky Home for Girls (founded in 1863) merged with the Louisville Country Day School (founded in 1948), which had previously consolidated with Aquinas Preparatory School and Kentucky Military Institute, to become Kentucky Country Day School. KCD moved to its present, 85-acre campus in 1978. The school offers Advanced Placement courses, in addition to a selection of electives. Sophomores may apply to KCD's honors program, a two-year interdisciplinary program exploring philanthropy and the humanities. An international internship program offers sophomores and juniors the opportunity to pursue summer internships in the US and abroad. All upper school students must purchase a laptop computer for in-class use. Seniors complete a compulsory, 30-hour community service project.
