Private Bag 1, Mtunthama, Malawi
Founded by Dr. H. Kamuzu Banda, first president of Malawi, this school in southern Africa combines full boarding with a classical, UK-style curriculum. Latin and Greek courses form part of the core curriculum, and French is another foreign language option. After preparing for the GCSE or IGCSE examinations, students choose from an array of AS-level and A-level courses. Graduates typically matriculate at universities in the UK, the US, South Africa and Malawi. The arts play an important role at the academy. A well-developed drama program features both indoor productions and smaller ones that are staged in an outdoor theater. Visits with local artists and craftsmen enhance the study of art and enable pupils to view pottery, wood carvings and cane furniture. Kamuzu's school choir performs both in the chapel and at area functions.
