K International School, Tokyo
1-5-15 Shirakawa, Koto-ku, Tokyo, 135-0021 Japan
Serving Tokyo's expatriate and local communities, KIST offers all three programs of the International Baccalaureate Organization as a framework for the school's curriculum. The school comprises four divisions: early childhood (prekindergarten and kindergarten), primary school (grades 1-5), junior high school (grades 6-10) and high school (grades 11 and 12). In the primary school, KIST combines work in the core areas of reading, writing and math with a thematic approach that allows further inquiry into subjects of interest. The junior high program centers around the eight subject areas of the Middle Years Program. Boys and girls in grades 11 and 12 follow the rigorous IB Diploma Program. The summer program, serving enrolled students only, provides English as a Second Language instruction.
