Situated on a 25-acre campus within one mile of Waikiki Beach, this school was founded during the reign of King Kamehameha IV. Iolani emphasizes Christian values and serves students of diverse religious and racial backgrounds. Iolani's college-oriented academic program places a special emphasis on English, mathematics and science, with five foreign languages being offered in the upper school. An accelerated academic program has been established, with Advanced Placement offered in all major areas of study. The school introduces art in the lower grades and later conducts elective studio art courses in glass, oil painting, sculpture, ceramics, metal sculpture and photography. The performing arts program consists of band, chorus, dance, orchestra, stage band and theater.
