International School of Lusaka
6945 Nangwenya Rd, PO Box 50121, Lusaka, Zambia
One of the oldest international schools in Africa, ISL enrolls students from more than 40 nations. The school serves both Zambians and the international community on its 33-acre campus in the Longacres section of the city. The primary school program (grades K-6) utilizes materials from US and UK educational systems. Music, art, computers and physical education classes complement core subjects. ESL and language arts specialists provide additional support. The secondary school program commences with a broad curriculum in grades 7-9 that includes requirements in computer studies and either French or Spanish. Students then prepare for the IGCSE examinations and pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma. Zambian culture is an important element of the program at all levels, and ISL encourages boys and girls to engage in community service.
