Teaching from a Christian perspective, ICS provides a full elementary and secondary American-style, English-medium program for the expatriate community in Pyongtaek. Graduates are prepared for American colleges. The city lies approximately 50 miles south of Seoul in an area selected by the US military as the hub of Korean operations. As a result, roughly 40 percent of ICS' students are children of defense workers.
