In Horizons' elementary division (grades K-5), teachers employ different approaches to suit individual learning styles. The transitional middle school program (grades 6 and 7) combines course work in the fundamentals with instruction in research, note-taking, communicational and study skills. Geared primarily toward college preparation, the high school (grades 8-12) encourages active participation and offers flexible scheduling and opportunities for special academic credit. A three-week short term in the fall provides a break from regular classes and enables students to engage in seminars pertaining to such subjects as finance, art and philosophy.
