Holmstead offers an alternative educational program for adolescents with intellectual ability who are not succeeding in a traditional academic setting because of emotional disturbances. It is primarily a college preparatory program. For individuals with learning disabilities, the school provides remediation and tutorial help in the development of skills and compensatory techniques. Every student takes six subjects within a multidisciplinary curriculum. Adjunct services such as testing and vocational and college counseling, as well as individual psychotherapy, are readily available. The usual duration of treatment is three years. The school accepts the following conditions: Emotional Disturbances, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, School Phobia.
