Harrisburg Academy

10 Erford Rd, Wormleysburg, PA 17043

The academy was a boarding and day school for boys until merging with Seiler School and becoming coeducational in 1947. The school is located in East Pennsboro, across the Susquehanna River from Harrisburg. The academy's program features foreign language and drama in all grades. Varied electives in the upper school broaden the traditional curriculum. Weekly guidance periods and a Great Books program in the middle school, process writing in all divisions, and senior internships enrich the program. Students in grades 11 and 12 may pursue the International Baccalaureate diploma, or enroll in IB courses while pursuing a traditional diploma. The community service program in grades 9-12 is modeled on the IB Creativity, Action and Service requirement. The summer session, in operation since 1969, consists of special-interest and sports camps, as well as study skills and enrichment courses for older students.
