Hannah More School
12039 Reisterstown Rd, Reisterstown, MD 21136
The school conducts a psycho-educational program consisting of academics, vocational education, counseling programs and a behavioral management system. The program provides each student with individual goals and objectives that are regularly monitored and revised to meet the child's emotional and educational needs. Hannah More conducts a comprehensive program for middle and high school students diagnosed with pervasive developmental disorder. During the middle school years, each self-contained classroom features a teacher and a teacher assistant. Pragmatic language, leisure and life skills supplement standard course work. The high school program comprises two models: The first is similar to the middle school program, as it continues the use of self-contained classrooms, while the second approach serves students identified with Asperger's syndrome or with pervasive developmental disorder who have functioned academically close to grade level. Students in the latter section participate in a departmentalized curriculum. Activities outside the classroom such as recreational opportunities and various types of therapy round out the program. The school also provides special education at the middle and high school levels for students with such emotional disabilities as depression, schizophrenia, anxiety, and mood, behavior and personality disorders. Many pupils with emotional disabilities have also been diagnosed with chronic mental illnesses. While students may enroll for anywhere from six months to six years, the average length of stay is three years. In addition to its traditional high school program, Hannah More also offers a vocational high school program with classes in horticulture, culinary arts, communications, building trades and automotive repair. The school accepts the following conditions: ADHD, Anorexia Nervosa, Anxiety Disorders, Asperger's Syndrome, Autism, Bulimia, Conduct Disorder, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Emotional Disturbances, Learning Differences, Mood Disorder, Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder, Pervasive Development Disorder, Psychosis, Prader-Willi Syndrome, School Phobia, Schizophrenia, Tourette’s Syndrome.
