Geneva English School
Rte de Malagny 36, 1294 Genthod, Switzerland
The British-based curriculum offered at GES, which is located near the north shore of Lake Geneva, prepares students for secondary education in the US and Switzerland, as well as in Britain. Emphasis is on the development of basic skills, especially those concerning arithmetic and reading, begun in preparatory classes. All students take French. Music, including instruction in singing and several instruments, and arts and crafts—ranging from collage, mosaics and modeling to sewing, embroidery and knitting—enrich the program. Sports are an important part of school life, with several periods of physical education each week complemented by the opportunity to participate in cross-country, gymnastics, basketball, soccer and rugby. Excursions to museums and local sites of interest, a winter ski camp for older students, annual drama productions in English and French, and other school activities complete school life.
