Fryeburg Academy

745 Main St, Fryeburg, ME 04037

Started and since maintained as a coeducational school, FA enjoyed as its first headmaster Paul Langdon, the Bernard Langdon of Oliver Wendell Holmes' novel Elsie Venner. His most eminent successor was Daniel Webster, who here made his first and only attempt at teaching school. Serving the community through its day program, the academy also offers boarding enrollment to its students, who pursue either a college preparatory or a general course of study. AP courses, tutorials and learning-disability services complement the academic program, and English as a Second Language courses are available for an additional fee. FA maintains particularly strong drama and music programs.
