Foxcroft, founded by Charlotte H. Noland, was given to the alumnae and reorganized as a nonprofit institution in 1937. The school is situated on 500 acres between the Blue Ridge and Bull Run mountains, one hour west of Washington, DC. The school's structured college preparatory curriculum features a variety of electives, as well as Advanced Placement courses in all disciplines. Other features include a March interim program that focuses on global awareness and other current topics; career internships; independent study opportunities; a fellowship program that brings renowned figures to campus for classes and discussions; an annual, two-day poetry festival; and trips abroad. Washington, DC, is used extensively for field trips to historical and cultural sites. Foxcroft's enrollment comprises students from a wide range of states and foreign countries.
