Fort Worth Country Day School Fort Worth Country Day School

Founded in 1962, Fort Worth Country Day offers an advanced curriculum, comprehensive in its emphasis of the humanities, sciences, arts and athletics for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The School values diversity in its community and has high expectations for student achievement, parent support and teacher performance. With an enrollment of 1110 students and 130 full-time faculty members, the campus-wide student/faculty ratio is 10:1. FWCD is accredited by the Independent Schools Association of the Southwest (ISAS).

Beginning in Lower School (grades K-4), the core curriculum is taught in homerooms. Students also learn from professional teachers whose specialties include laboratory and environmental science, studio art, music, library, foreign language, computer science, media literacy and physical education.

In Middle School (grades 5-8), careful attention is given to the student’s physical, emotional and intellectual growth. Students in grades seven and eight begin an accelerated curriculum and a longer day that includes competitive sports. Extracurricular clubs, community service projects, field trips and overnight trips are all part of the Middle School experience.
Upper School students embody Fort Worth Country Day’s mission of immersion in an academically rigorous college-preparatory program integrating the arts, athletics and community service. Students adhere to the core disciplines, but also have more freedom in course selection. FWCD currently offers 21 Advanced Placement (AP) courses in all disciplines.

All Middle and Upper School students participate in both athletics and the arts. FWCD’s extensive program in the visual and performing arts include theater, dance, orchestra, band, chorus, painting, photography and ceramics. FWCD is a member of the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC) in athletics and has earned several Division I championships in a variety of sports.

Through its programs, the School seeks to develop enthusiastic, thinking, well-rounded and responsible citizens equipped for success in college and life.
