Fordham Preparatory School Fordham Preparatory School

Fordham Prep is a Jesuit, college preparatory school for male day students founded in 1841. Located on the campus of Fordham University, it is an independent school with its own Board of Trustees. The school’s two buildings contain classrooms, labs, two gyms, fitness center, library, computer center and the 1,000-seat Leonard Theatre. There are 950 students. The student to teacher ratio is 11:1. Fordham prep offers an advanced program of individualized study for highly motivated young men. Its goals in both academic studies and personal growth are realized in the daily interaction between students and teachers. The ideal of Jesuit education is the well-rounded person who is intellectually competent, open to growth, religious, loving and committed to doing justice in generous service to other people. A program of retreats, days of renewal and a 4-year service program combine with curricular and co-curricular activities to provide a rich experience for our students in preparation for college and for life. Our graduates are accepted at the finest colleges and universities in the country. Our location is ideally suited for its combination of students from all across the metropolitan area. The geographic, ethnic and religious diversity of the students is one of the special features of the Prep and a point of pride for both students and faculty. We strive to include qualified students of limited financial resources by providing substantial financial assistance. Fordham Prep offers an education that emphasizes faith, scholarship and service, engaging the whole person: mind, heart, imagination and feelings. A Jesuit education is an experience that shapes a lifetime.
