On a 34-acre campus located next to Beebe Woods conservation area and overlooking Martha's Vineyard, FA draws students from Cape Cod, the Vineyard and southeastern Massachusetts. Within the traditional college preparatory curriculum, students are required each year to study English, math, foreign languages, science and history, with an emphasis placed on writing. More than three dozen electives are offered in the fine and performing arts, publications, and other curricular areas. The academy conducts exchanges with Holderlin Gymnasium in Heidelberg, Germany, and the Lycee Honore Estienne d'Orves in Nice, France. The math and science programs take advantage of the academy's proximity to the Woods Hole scientific community, and field trips are common. Each class completes an annual community service project. Students attend an all-school daily meeting.
