Ethical Culture Fieldston School

3901 Fieldston Rd, Bronx, NY 10471

Since its establishment by Felix Adler, this school has provided an ethnically diverse student body with an enriched curriculum that integrates academics, the arts and sciences, and ethical values. Both elementary facilities, Fieldston Lower, which shares the 18-acre, wooded grounds in Riverdale, and Ethical Culture, located on Central Park West in midtown Manhattan, offer students in grades pre-K-5 a program that focuses on building basic skills within a modified core curriculum. Specialists augment the program with laboratory science, computer, ethics, art, music, library, social studies workshop, wood shop and drama. Fieldston (grades 6-8) and Fieldston Upper (grades 9-12), located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, offer many courses in the visual and performing arts to supplement academic college preparation. Semester-long English electives rotate on a two-year cycle, and history offerings alternate each year. Interdisciplinary options allow juniors and seniors to integrate related electives across academic departments, and senior projects explore areas outside of the curriculum. Upper school students perform 60 hours of community service prior to graduation.
