350 Park St, Elgin, IL 60120
The oldest independent preparatory school west of the Allegheny Mountains, the academy was founded by James Gifford, who four years earlier had founded the city of Elgin. On an 18-acre campus, the plant has been expanded and remodeled over the years. The liberal arts curriculum emphasizes college preparation. The fine arts, athletics and extracurricular activities are integral to the program. Special features include a comprehensive lower and middle school world language program, as well as a month-long immersion program that allows lower school pupils to learn about another country. Community service opportunities are available at all levels. Upper school students participate in at least six seasons of interscholastic athletics by the end of grade 11.
