Eaglebrook School Eaglebrook School

Under the direction of Dr. C. Thurston Chase, associate of the founder, Howard B. Gibbs, and headmaster from 1928 to 1966, Eaglebrook became one of the leading boarding schools for younger boys. Parents and alumni help endow and expand the plant, which now covers more than 750 acres. The former classroom building, now used primarily for the arts, includes facilities for woodworking, stained glass, architectural design, computer-aided design, ceramics and photography, as well as acting and music rehearsal rooms. Eaglebrook boys go on to secondary school having already had wide opportunities for responsibility and leadership in student government and in committees that direct many aspects of school life. Accelerated sections, as well as remedial classes, and the flexible program offer boys challenges at all levels. The curriculum is enriched by many electives, with particular emphasis placed on music and the arts. Programs of cultural value are held bimonthly. Each student participates every season in one of the many interscholastic and individual sports, and school service activities take place on Saturday mornings. Although community service is not a graduation requirement, Eaglebrook encourages boys to partake of local outreach opportunities. The fall Country Fair, the Winter Carnival and Grandparents' Day are special occasions that bring parents and alumni to the school. In addition, International Day and Cultural and Racial Awareness Day promote social and cultural maturity.
