Eagle Hill School

242 Old Petersham Rd, PO Box 116, Hardwick, MA 01037

One of the few independent schools designed for the adolescent who has been diagnosed with a specific learning disability, attention deficit disorder or both, Eagle Hill accepts only students of average or above-average intelligence who are free of primary emotional and behavioral difficulties. The college preparatory program allows faculty to take advantage of the pupil's strengths while also providing remediation of learning deficits. An important aspect of the curriculum is the Pragmatics Program, which assists students with their verbal and nonverbal communicational skills. Eagle Hill also conducts a student leadership program. Specialized training in perceptual speech and language development is available. In addition, the residential program facilitates the development of organizational, time-management and social skills. Students in grades 9-12 satisfy a 10-hour annual community service requirement.
