Perkins provides year-round, 24-hour care to clients who are coping with varying degrees of trauma, behavioral disturbances, psychiatric disturbance, family dysfunction and previous failed placements. Individuals may have deficits in self-care, community awareness and interpersonal skills. Services are available in a continuum of settings. Treatment programs seek to improve the client's behavioral controls and insight, interpersonal relationships, and life and leisure skills. Year-round educational programming is available to both residents and day students. The curriculum features course work in the traditional disciplines, a young children's readiness class, computer training, job skills instruction, art, music, physical education, swimming, a therapeutic riding program and fitness instruction. The school accepts the following conditions: ADHD, Anxiety Disorders, Asperger's Syndrome, Emotional Disturbances, Learning Differences, Mood Disorder, Nonverbal Learning Differences, Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Schizophrenia.
