DIS conducts an English-medium curriculum in a small-class setting. At the elementary school level, a homeroom teacher leads the core subjects are English, math, science, social studies and art. Specialists teach music, information technology, physical education, ESL and German (as a first or a second language, depending upon proficiency). The secondary school (grades 6-12) provides a continuous international program from the IB Middle Years Program through the IB Diploma Program. In the Diploma Program, pupils can study most subjects at either higher or standard level; three of the six courses must be taken at higher level.
