Chatham Hall

800 Chatham Hall Cir, Chatham, VA 24531

Founded by Rev. C. Orlando Pruden, this school was called Chatham Episcopal Institute until 1924. The college preparatory program emphasizes spoken and written expression, in addition to analytical and computational skills. Math and science courses make extensive use of computer technology. Many students take honors and Advanced Placement classes, and the school conducts well-developed dance and fine arts programs. An honor code governs all aspects of school life. Chatham Hall offers school-based study abroad programs and also participates in the English-Speaking Union. Internships, extensive weekend activities and an endowed speaker series provide enrichment opportunities. Veterinary science courses are enhanced by the school's riding program, featuring more than 50 horses, three training rings and a permanent trial course. Students attend required chapel services on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays, and participate in a variety of social activities with independent schools across Virginia, North Carolina and Maryland.
