Founded by Frances Chapin, this school served students in grades K-12 until 1949. After moving several times in its early years, the school moved to its current Lawrence Township location in 1958. Chapin’s curriculum emphasizes the acquisition of fundamental reading, writing, computing and critical thinking skills, while also exposing boys and girls to art, music, drama and foreign languages. Small classes provide opportunities for hands-on learning and allow pupils to gain proficiency in communicational and study skills. An on-campus art gallery hosts six professional shows annually. Community service projects are part of the curriculum at all grade levels, and eighth graders enroll in a trimester-long course on service learning.
