Founded in 1935, Chadwick School is dedicated to academic excellence, the development of exemplary character and personal growth through experience. Chadwick’s 45-acre campus is located on a hill overlooking Los Angeles, where students are surrounded by trees and open space. Courses in Grades K-12 emphasize academic skills including problem solving, critical, analytical and creative thinking, technological expertise and the development of effective study habits. Students are offered a wide array of drama, music and art classes at all grade levels. Technology is integrated throughout the curriculum. In all grades, Chadwick School’s intent is to foster motivation, integrity, curiosity, acquisition of skills, effective communication and joy in learning.

Small class sizes at all grade levels enable teachers to know their students well, and opportunities are created for discussion and engagement outside of class. Outdoor education in Grades 3-12 develops leadership skills through an accredited and well-regarded wilderness program. Nineteen AP and multiple honors-level courses are offered to qualified students. In 2012, Chadwick was one of 15 schools in North America selected to pilot the AP|Cambridge Capstone Program and Credential, which emphasizes independent research skills, collaboration, global curricula and cross-disciplinary content. Chadwick has three college counselors to guide students through the college application process.

Most students participate in Chadwick’s voluntary community service program, which offers weekly outreach and other local and international options. More than 90 percent of Upper School students participate in Chadwick’s competitive athletics program. Round Square exchanges enable Upper School students to study at any of 80 member schools around the world. Complementing its global focus, Chadwick also has a second campus in Songdo, South Korea. Within a supportive community, all Chadwick students are encouraged and inspired to challenge themselves as learners and individuals. Chadwick School draws students from the South Bay, Long Beach and Los Angeles.
