Centreville School

6201 Kennett Pike, Centreville, DE 19807

Centreville provides an elementary program for children of average to above-average intelligence who have learning disabilities. To facilitate individualized instruction, the school limits classes of younger students to six or seven; as pupils get older, the maximum class size increases to 10. Instructors teach children strategies to compensate for their learning disabilities, and the program emphasizes self-esteem development. Centreville's teaching approach provides each pupil with a team of specialists that work together to ameliorate areas of weakness and build on existing strengths. Reading forms the foundation of the curriculum. At all grade levels, a specialized and systematic reading course is integral to the school day. Computers are an important learning tool for writing and review. In addition to the core subjects, the school offers a varied arts program that includes drawing, painting, sculpture, building, acting and singing. The school accepts the following conditions: ADHD, Dyslexia, Learning Differences.
