Canterbury School of Florida

990 62nd Ave NE, St Petersburg, FL 33702

Although affiliated with the Episcopal Church, Canterbury enrolls students of all faiths. The curriculum provides honors and Advanced Placement courses, marine studies and an international program, in addition to an array of extracurricular activities that ranges from interscholastic athletics to offerings in the fine and performing arts. An annual miniterm session gives all upper school students a chance to gain extensive exposure to subjects or activities beyond the scope of the regular curriculum. Offerings have included career shadowing, broadcasting, trips abroad, ecology trips to the Florida Keys, SAT review, technical theater and community service, among others. Juniors and seniors may use miniterm as a chance to embark on college visits. Activities include study skills, leadership opportunities, and trips organized by grade level in the middle and upper schools. Prior to graduation, boys and girls must perform at least 80 hours of community service. In addition, all seniors enroll in a research and writing course. Canterbury operates two campuses. The lower school (grades pre-K-4) conducts classes at the Hough campus on Snell Isle Boulevard Northeast, while the middle school (grades 5-8) and the upper school (grades 9-12) occupy the Knowlton campus on 62nd Avenue Northeast.
