In conjunction with Community Service Foundation, Buxmont offers special education residential and day services for students with social and emotional disturbances in grades 6-12. The residential program consists of 16 homes in Bucks and Montgomery counties, each of which accommodates six boys or six girls. Residents attend one of eight licensed special education schools. Candidates for this program have mental health or substance abuse issues; exhibit aggressive, impulsive or ungovernable behavior; have family problems or have suffered physical, emotional or sexual abuse; resist or refuse school attendance; or are pregnant. The day program accepts boys and girls who have been referred by the juvenile justice system, children's and youth agencies, drug and alcohol commissions, and eastern Pennsylvania school districts. Buxmont formulates Individualized Education Plans and enrolls pupils in an academic program that leads to a high school diploma. Typical day students are truant or have been suspended or expelled from a previous school; exhibit aggressive, impulsive or disruptive behavior; have learning difficulties; have mental health or self-esteem issues; have had problems with the law; abuse drugs or alcohol; or have family problems or have encountered physical, emotional or sexual abuse. The school accepts the following conditions: ADHD, Discalculia, Dysgraphia, Emotional Disturbances, Mood Disorder, Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Sexually Abused, School Phobia, Substance Abuse.
