Bridges enrolls students classified as either gifted or highly gifted who also have learning differences. The academy addresses the particular needs of this population through small classes and differentiated instruction. In some classes, seminar-style seating is utilized to promote discussion and the exchange of ideas. Technology is an important aspect of the program: Each student must possess a laptop computer for classroom work, research and communication. During the middle school years (grades 5-8), programming combines work in the core disciplines with attention to children's social and emotional needs. Regular progress reports enable parents to track student achievement. The college preparatory high school (grades 9-12) features honors courses, preparation for Advanced Placement examinations in certain subjects, and electives in the visual and performing arts. Spanish and Japanese constitute the foreign language options during these years. High schoolers accumulate 30 hours of required community service prior to graduation. The school accepts the following conditions: ADHD, Auditory Processing Disorders, Discalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Learning Differences, Nonverbal Learning Differences.
