Birralee International School Trondheim
Bispegata 9C, 7012 Trondheim, Norway
Serving both local families and those from overseas, Birralee provides an English-speaking education for boys and girls ages 4-16. During the primary years (ages 5-12), reading is a particular point of emphasis. Instructors often teach geography, history, art, drama, technology, home economics and music through cross-curricular topics. Children study Scandinavian geography and history to gain a better awareness of their environment. Pupils in the middle school (ages 13-16) take part in a program that stresses creative, practical and logical thinking. Projects and group work enrich the curriculum at this level. The school is situated in the center of Trondheim, one of Norway's largest cities. Close to the city's older section, with its cathedral and museums, Birralee's location allows students to easily visit cultural and historical sites of interest. The expansive ski terrain surrounding the city provides opportunities for cross-country and downhill skiing and ski jumping. Pupils are encouraged to take part in both winter and summer sports.
