Benchmark offers a community-based program for troubled young adults who require specialized assistance to become healthy, productive and independent. Students typically spend at least 12 months enrolled in the program; some require 18 to 24 months at Benchmark, depending upon individual progress. Clients who are willing to live in a structured environment stand to benefit most from the program. Students live in a supervised apartment with a small group of their peers. Elements of the program include academic coaching, apartment living, community involvement, daily living skills improvement, emotional growth training, finance and budgeting instruction, work experience, meal planning and preparation training, and vocational education. Those dealing with drug- or alcohol-related issues must adhere to a program of sobriety. Twelve-Step programming is available. The school accepts the following conditions: ADHD, Anorexia Nervosa, Anxiety Disorders, Bulimia, Conduct Disorder, Discalculia, Dysgraphia, Dyslexia, Emotional Disturbances, Learning Differences, Mood Disorder, Obsessive/Compulsive Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, School Phobia, Tourette’s Syndrome.
