This branch of Atlanta Speech School consists of three main components: a special school, a parent-infant program, and a resource program that provides one-on-one assistance for hearing-impaired children from regular school settings. Psycho-educational evaluations for hearing-impaired children are also available. A primary goal of the program is to develop residual hearing, both for better understanding of others and for further developing the child's own speech. The school program incorporates FM amplification systems. Atlanta Speech School operates a children's cochlear implant center that, in conjunction with the Oral School, offers speech and auditory training to children being considered for implants and to those who have already received implants. Classroom teachers and members of the cochlear implant staff work together to maximize the benefits of the implant. Other offerings of the facility include educational consultation and placement services as well as learning disabilities and speech/language/audiology clinics that offer diagnostic and remedial services. The school accepts the following conditions: Deafness, Hearing Impairments.
