Founded by a group of parents, international educators and members of the local business community, AIS is an International Baccalaureate World School that offers all three components of the IB curriculum and serves both American and international pupils. Students enroll from approximately 50 countries, while faculty and staff represent more than 30 nations. Primary-age children (age 3 through grade 5) begin the IB Program by studying core subjects in two languages: English and either French, German or Spanish. Secondary school pupils may study a third or fourth language beginning in grade 6. Students complete the secondary curriculum by selecting six core subjects and engaging in three learning opportunities: Theory of Knowledge; an extended essay; and Creativity, Action and Service. Graduates receive both the IB Diploma and the AIS diploma.
