Ashley Hall Ashley Hall

Founded by Mary Vardrine McBee, a graduate of Smith College, the school gained prominence through the breadth of educational ideals that she brought to bear and maintained for 40 years. Upon her retirement, the school was continued under the Ashley Hall Foundation. The school's coeducational early education center, created in 1990, enrolls boys and girls in preschool (ages 2-4) and pre-first (age 5). Foreign language courses begin in the primary years and continue throughout. The upper school program includes Advanced Placement offerings, as well as various electives. Art, music and drama are part of the curriculum, and all students take physical education. Girls in grades 9-12 perform 40 hours of required community service each year. Ashley Hall's small boarding division enrolls a limited number of international students.
